This workshop counts towards CPD requirements for Yoga Alliance US and Yoga Alliance Professionals (10 hours).
As a teacher it can often be challenging to know how best to support students who come to class with an injury. This weekend immersion aims to give you the tools that you need to be able to approach, support and empower all students so that the practice is truly accessible.
The two days will include:
1) Discussing the research on yoga-related injuries
2) Looking at basic guidelines for the most appropriate and effective way to communicate with a student who has an injury
3) Exploring the most common injuries that students present to class with
4) Reviewing the anatomy of the parts of the body that are most commonly injured
5) Addressing how specific asanas can be modified, adapted or supported with props in order to make them accessible to a wide range of students
6) Discussing ways in which we can work to improve the health of key areas of the body
There will be a mixture of discussion, lecture, group work and practical demonstration.
There will be a detailed handout provided including images of asana variations.
Each day will run from 10.30am - 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 4.30pm.
You’ll have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of my book, Supporting Yoga Students with Common Injuries and Conditions, at the end of the workshop. Email me to preorder your copy.
