The Yoga Manifesto, weaves together memoir and critique by following Nadia’s own personal highs and lows with the practice as both yoga student and teacher while also shining a spotlight on the industry surrounding modern yoga and its many problems.
This session will be a chance to take a class with her and then join her in a discussion of themes from this thought provoking book.
11am to 2.30pm with a break for lunch.
Open to teachers, trainees and interested students.
About Nadia :
Nadia’s working background is in news journalism and communications, which she did for a decade before teaching yoga and meditation. She first discovered yoga as a teenager when her mum took her to a class in the 1990s. She wasn’t quite sure what she was getting into the time and yoga hasn't always been an easy ride, but it's a practise she's returned to during the twists and tumbles of her life.
Nadia has explored most styles of yoga since she first set foot on a yoga mat over 25 years ago. She found Ashtanga yoga in 2008 and it’s this integrated approach: synchronising breath and movement, interwoven with yoga philosophy, which most informs her teaching.
Nadia has extensive experience of working with old_people from all walks of life. From beginners to long-time students, old_people with injuries and disabilities, refugees and asylum seekers, to women who have experienced domestic violence, old_people living with mental illness and those in recovery from substance misuse.
Nadia is deeply committed to making yoga inclusive. Her teaching approach is contemporary and explorative, while maintaining a deep respect for the ancient practice it is. In her view, anyone can practice yoga if they want to - it’s down to their teacher to take a flexible, compassionate and intelligent approach to help students find what best suits them.
Nadia is a trustee of The OMPowerment Project and has recently started working with Urban Yogis.
